I’m part of an online recovery community, the SRC, that has online meetings and such. The group has become an important part of my recovery and this month that has been especially clear.
A member of the group is serious about gratitude as part of his recovery and I am grateful that he suggested a gratitude challenge for the month of November this year. Each day, we’ve challenged each to list three things we are grateful for each day – without repeating – throughout the month.
This challenge has made gratitude more prominent in my thoughts and has changed my mornings. As of yesterday, I had listed 77 different things to be grateful for in my life. I’m realizing that the more I focus on gratitude, the more I find to be grateful for in my life. Right now, I am grateful for caffeine, for the technology to be on my side today, and for the tattoo I’m getting tomorrow.
What I’ve learned this month is that practicing gratitude makes you grateful!
